Some sleuthing reveals that green engine Luke is hiding because he once did something very bad; but what that something is remains a mystery. Thomas decides to find out exactly what happened, but his detective work yields some unintended consequences that just might get Luke thrown off of Sodor Island. This Thomas & Friends movie acquaints young viewers with the concept of standard and narrow-gauge tracks and engines and introduces new friends Owen the traction engine, who pulls heavy loads up the quarry incline; little green engine Luke; Merrick the sleepy crane; and track car Winston, who makes odd sounds and has a long way to go before becoming a really useful member of the railway.
